Annabell Lackner, Grade 12
UWCEA Arusha
How can we continue like that,
Burning our wheat,
Wasting our food,
Mass producing meat,
Destroying resources for good.
How can we continue like that,
Reading the news,
Well aware of the shame,
The shame our lifestyle produced,
But rejecting the blame.
How can we continue like that,
Waging wars of liberation,
Leaving behind nations of desperation,
Vouching for equality, humanity, and peace,
If the gunfire will hardly cease.
The war has to end,
Humanity shall return,
Return to our hearts,
We have to discern,
Contribute our parts,
Start befriending the strange,
Urge for the change,
And become human again!
