This is an interview with one of the world’s most famous boy bands, BTS. Debuted in 2013, the group consisting of seven members has gone through nine years journey from a small dark basement to the United Nations and the White House. The seven members, who debuted aging 16-21, had suffered from mockery and defiance through their idol journey. They had even considered of dismissing the group. Yet they continued with tons of love from their ever-increasing large number of fanbase. I remember one quote from RM, the leader of the group, "We’re on some path that’s set since we’re born, but I still believe we can change some things. So I believe in my faith but I still don’t believe in my fate." Also, while everyone else was telling me to love others, they told me to love myself first. That’s the reason why I admire them; I was born in a poor family, but had never stopped pursuing my dream. I love myself as well as others, too.
Q: Can you briefly introduce yourself?
A: People who want to delight others with their music productions.
Q: What kind of music do you produce?
A: We create Korean songs as well as English singles for a broader audience.
Q: What are some of your dreams before debut?
A: Some of us had wanted to be actors. Some of us had wanted to be professional dancers. Some of had never thought of being idols, but rather music producers.
Q: Have you all achieved your dreams?
A: We had not yet achieved our dreams. We changed and we had found out that being idols can also be interesting, even though it might differ from what we originally thought of jobs.
Q: Would you like to pursue your dreams after your enlistment in the army?
A: We would do that as part of our life. We would also sing, dance, and rap as well for bringing more happiness to the world.
Q: If you were to choose again, will you become idols?
A: Yes and no. Some of us would otherwise shine in areas that interest them.
Q: How’s life of an idol be like?
A: We practice regularly. We hardly sleep during comeback season because we have to shoot MV and go on broadcasts. It‘s hard being an idol but worth the effort. Seeing our fans during concerts is our greatest happiness. We rarely have vacations because even during non-comeback season we should go to work like normal people do.
Q: What hobbies do you have and what do you do during spare time?
A: We travel, read books, and do sports. We also explore things that we hadn’t experienced of such as learning English and bungee jumping.
Q: You have collaborated with so many artists, Nicky Minaj, Halsey, Megan, Coldplay, etc. Who do you like the most?
A: We had wonderful and unique experiences with each and every of them. We love all of them and would like to work with them again.
Q: How do you solve conflicts between members?
A: We first calm down and think about the conflict itself. If the members involved still can’t solve the conflict, other members would help them.
Q: What do you think is the most important for your success as a legend in the K-pop industry?
A: ARMY inspires us every day. We would like to thank them for our success.
Q: Do you want to say something to ARMY?
A: ARMY, remember to love yourself! I love you!
Thank you for bringing wonderful answers to this interview, boys.
