Hussein Abbaka, Grade 11
UWCEA Arusha
When I heard about UWC 3 years ago I thought that this was my dream, and it would always be just a dream, 6 months ago when I applied I didn’t think that I would make it, but now that I am here about to start my journey I feel extremely happy, the thrill is filling my soul, the joy is all over my heart, I feel like this is the experience that I am missing, this is what will make me something different, someone who’s able to help, inspire, and lead the new generation.
Most of my fears are about making the most of my UWC experience, UWC has tons of activities, and being able to keep up with most of them is what makes me nervous most of the time when I think about UWC, I feel like this journey require tons of energy, the energy that I’ve been only using a small amount of it. I also feel concerned about all the work I will be required to do, as it is a new system with an entirely different approach than what I’ve been taught my entire life, so I hope I get the most out of UWC by the end of the 2 years and I hope that I have no regrets after all.
UWC is a wise person who’s willing to give as long as you ask and work to get it, we all want to be the best in everything and anything, but the people who really are the best are the people who work on being the best not just sit and wish to be one. What I hope to learn is how people around the world think, how do they approach solutions to problems, how to think efficiently, and how to reflect this on my community, learn how to make people more open and accept one another, these are all the goals that I wish to get from this experience.
