Sarah Alfonso, Grade 11
UWCEA Arusha Campus
My entire life all was surrounded around this one word ‘stage’. According to me I define it as a platform for self-expression. It doesn’t matter what type of stage it is, either for a church, parliament or even a school assembly. As long as I get attention from people and I express myself I feel so much delighted.
I am an extrovert. The type that wants attention from everyone around. I feel good speaking in front of a crowd, especially one where I get to talk either about my beliefs in relation to my religion or speak and campaign about peace and educating people on healthy lifestyle and the good they can do to impact their communities. I also love to talk to my fellow age mates on the importance of education and give them advice in any way possible, not only that but also I love to educate older people because learning never stops however old someone is.
In my previous school, I was the chapel prefect. That is I was responsible for the main hall and the activities that take place there such as worship, assemblies, worship etc. I always loved that place because it trained me on how to be confident in my speech and how to give an impressive talk in front of crowds. I am one feeler and I get attached to things I spend time with so easily. Even after leaving my school I got a strong attachment to the main hall solely because it gave me my favorite ‘stage’ to express myself.
I made a little bit of research and found out there is a main hall at UWCEA Arusha campus called the Performance hall, it has a big stage and even before arriving school, I already feel an attachment to this building. Am a singer, public speaker and a debater. All my interests lie with talking to people. So I feel I will get a ‘stage’ to express myself. A stage to sing, debate and speak out. I have always wanted to show case my singing talents at America’s got talent (AGT) but I never got the chance so I am going to use this opportunity to create an AGT at school as Arusha Got Talent (AGT) I guess I will be contented with that.
But I pray that in the near future I get a bigger stage to showcase my talents and to do that whicjh am best at. That is capture the attention of an audience and I know one day this dream and prayer will come into a reality.
