Things am grateful for

Sarah Alfonso, Grade 11
UWCEA Arusha Campus

Am so grateful for a lot of things in my life. Regardless of if its big, small, complex or simple. I believe that we should be grateful for every little thing in our lives. Be it moments, people, gifts or even the fact that we are alive. The below are some of the most important reasons I can mention and I believe we should all be grateful for them.
  1. First of all am grateful for the fact that am a Christian, a seventh day Adventist in particular and I know God and believe in his son Jesus Christ who died to save me from my sins which is a priceless gift that any father could give out. Because to a father his children are priceless. And am happy that I have been saved by his blood shed on cross of Calvary and the gift of salvation that has been given free of charge to all.
  2. Am most grateful for the family and friends I have. My family are very precious to me especially my mom and dad cause they have been there for me since the day one of my life and they are still there for me at this stage in my life. Am also very happy that I was given amazing siblings who have always made  my day with their annoying behaviors and friends who are always there for me when I needed them.
  3. My gratitude goes to God my father for my talents such as singing, writing and public speech. Because I use this gifts to glorify him and also serve humanity. I can use my talents to pass information to millions of people across the world through my music and speech. I can also campaign for peace and unity in my community and speak out for those who can’t speak out like me and sing messages of peace to a world sunken in a pool of trauma due to endless conflicts.
  4. Am also most grateful for the air I breathe and the fact that I am alive. Many have died but am still alive and kicking what more could I have asked the giver of life to have accorded me. So thank you God.
  5. Am grateful for the little I and my family have, the food on our table, the roof on our head and the shoes on our feet. Some of this might be second hand materials but there are people who don’t have so I thank God for his blessings.
  6. Am grateful for my good health, am neither blind, deaf nor lame and I have a very good mental state. Many wish to walk, see and hear but I have been gifted with not one but the three and so am so happy and thankful for my creator who took his time to make me whole and good as I am. This world is filled with lots of heart broken distressed people whose final resort to trials they face being drug abuse, alcoholism and suicide. But because I know God, I also know that he is the provider of everything and the peace giver so I find my peace of mind in his service.
  7. Lastly I am grateful for joining the UWC family and am so excited that I have started a journey that will enable me to meet new people and learn a lot of interesting things. And above all keep on the mission of making education a force to  unite peoples, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future. I believe it’s the will of God that I should join the UWC family.

All the above include God in them and to those who do not believe in him it might sound like a bunch of untrue statements but trust me there is peace in Christ and every good thing that happens in your life is because of his love and mercy.
