‘What a wonderful world’ the song tells, and that is precisely what I imagine when thinking of a world created by me, a world with the name Tlalticpactli ('planet' in Nahuatl) which is easy to imagine and is something that we would all love to have, right?
Well in this world that I created, we would first of all live, not have this world. I want to make this clarification because we often get it confused, to 'have' something is to 'own' it, and we own nothing. This world has the perfect conditions for humans to live in it, let us understand this, if the world decides to no longer give us a place here - for example, global warming caused by humans -, it will not think twice and would make the conditions for us inhospitable.
With this taken into consideration, going for a walk is pleasant, with no trash down the street, architecture that fits with the environment, and encountering multiple parks along the way, thus that's what you do, go for a walk. This is also a world where the government and overall society don't think about land as something we could 'own' and more as something we could use for the benefit of everyone.
You keep up your walk and you feel safe, thankfully, in this society, everyone can take a walk without the fear of being kidnapped, assaulted, or receiving violence because of discrimination of how they look, their sex, race, religion, or in general, nothing.
One of the many advantages of Tlalticpactli is that if you get tired of walking, you can use public transport for a small price, it is in great condition, provides wifi, weather conditioned, and is well equipped with safety protocols. People also arrive rapidly to their destination, and thanks to public transport being so effective, only a few people are in the necessity of using a car frequently, so gridlocks are non-existing.
Let’s say, suddenly you are hungry, you get off the bus with the interest of finding a restaurant to eat at, there you order some food and you love it, why? Another wonder of this world is that the global economy is run through love. We, as humans who live on Planet Earth, know more than anyone how bad it is when the economy is run through money; when it becomes the end goal to obtain, and not the mean, on Planet Earth, most people don't work in the place they love, but in the one they need. In Tlalticpactli the situation is different, this is a society where every employer loves their job. Everything is better made with love; let's think about those enchiladas the abuelitas make, they are delicious, all because they are made with love. No one suffers in Tlalticpactli for two reasons, the first one is because everyone loves their job, and the second one is that everyone obtains quality products and experiences because they were made with love.
While you are eating, you encounter your state governor, she is alone, no one is asking her for pictures or anything, she is just having a peaceful lunch, you tell yourself that this wouldn’t be possible in a different world, and you are correct. People don’t watch politicians as powerful people, they understand that being a politician is just another job, a special one, but at the end of the day a job. You start a conversation with her and she tells you that she used to be a doctor, but decided to take a break from that area to become a politician. Here everyone has the opportunity to postulate themselves and have a real chance to get voted without necessarily being part of the political stratum.
It is still the afternoon when you leave the restaurant, so you decide to culminate your day by attending your favourite museum. It is about the city and the region you live in and is not run by the government but is still complete, even though your region doesn't have as much history as some other places it has recovered a lot of data and overall information from nearby places to complete the museum. Now you walk directly to the native tribe's area, where the museum has its exposition yearly-round about the ones who came first, in honour to represent them and acknowledge their past.
When leaving the museum you realize that it’s almost night, and you have time for one more activity, so the best part of the day comes in; this is when you remember there is a cultural event downtown. Most people that live here, don't ‘look from here’ but it doesn’t matter because the society endorses diversity, everyone respects everyone's culture. A great example is that every ethnic group has its cultural week, on these events you will find traditional dances, food, objects, etcetera, all related to the culture in question.
It's time to go back home, today was a good day, you took a walk, you used public transport, you ate and then met your state governor, you visited a history museum, and finished at a cultural event. Gladly, you are in bed thinking about all of these things you did, and you are cognizant of the fact that even though you had a unique day, you have these exciting days often. Even better is that, you are not alone, everyone has their chance of making their own day 'rare', or as the saying goes "Another day, another opportunity”.
The day is now complete, you close your eyes and you fall asleep, here in this beautiful world, Tlalticpactli.
