The term "literature" has a broad definition. Poetry, theater, or prose fiction are all possible forms of art. Some people have primarily described it as long-lasting creative merit something to be considered superior. Any literary work can convey a specific message, but each reader will interpret it differently depending on their viewpoint and mental model. I like to think of literature as an outlet for expression, as a method to share a part of oneself with the world. I joined the LIT club at my school, and it was when I had my first real literary growth experience. I've always enjoyed writing songs and stories, but I've never had the right platform or people with whom to share them. The LIT club is a place where anything goes, where you can transform your ideas, feelings, and imagination into original, powerful works. I was ready for anything and everything. I had the opportunity to truly explore my artistic side and evaluate what worked and what didn't. Along with the apparent inspiration it provided, it also gave me confidence in both my writing and myself because it allowed me to be more honest with my thoughts and more unrestrained with my emotions. It created a space where I could be authentic and allow all of my ideas to flow freely into songs, poetry, stories, and countless more creations. In fact, it is one of the reasons I am able to write this article today because it helps me remember that even though my writing may not be perfect, it shouldn't stop me from speaking my mind or sharing my thoughts and visions with others. It really changed how I saw the world and gave me a skill I'll use for the rest of my life. This is why I love UWC. Of the six schools I've attended, none has offered me the chance to develop my confidence and share my writing with the world. UWC provided me with a voice that I couldn't have obtained on my own, a platform that I was unable to stand on before.
