Joanne Kathleen, also known as Jk rowling- a British writer and a philanthropist who published the world’s best-selling book series known as Harry Potter. She was born in Chipping Sodbury, on July 31st, 1965. They lived near a family called Potter- a name Joanne always liked. Her ambition for writing first started when she wrote a story about a rabbit, called 'Rabbit'. At just eleven, she wrote her first novel – about seven cursed diamonds and the people who owned them.
When she was 18 she went to Exeter University to study for a Bachelor of Arts and graduated with a degree in French in 1987. She began working temp jobs as a bilingual secretary.
It was in 1990 when Rowling first envisioned the idea of Harry Potter. She was on a long train journey from Manchester to London kings cross. Over the next five years, she began to plan out the seven books of the series.
In the seven years before Harry Potter was finally published, Joanne had moved to Portugal to get a job as an English teacher. She met her first husband, Jorge Arantes – and together they had a child Jessica. However, after a couple of years, they split after a fierce argument.
Soon after her divorce, Rowling moved to Edinburgh where she tried to finish her first book while also taking care of Jessica.
On June 26th, 1997, her first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone was finally published by a small publisher Bloomsbury who decided to take the book on after getting rejected by 12 major publishing houses. Each book covered one obstacle that Harry faced before destroying Voldermort. By 2007 all the harry potter books were released bringing Rowling to one of the best-selling and wealthiest authors in history.
I was 12 years old when I first came across Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Our school had taken us on a trip to the library, I was moving around picking up books of authors I was familiar with. Once I was about to check out I came across a dusty red colored cover page with the name Harry potter… As an inquisitive person, I decided to check it out and instantly fell in love. Leaving all the 0ther books behind I quickly grabbed the whole series before anyone could and negotiated with the owner to sell me the series with the little money I had at that time. Happily and excitedly I went home and started reading only to find myself finishing the series in mere 5 days, fully attached to the characters.
The protagonist was a boy named Harry who had found out on his eleventh birthday that he was the orphaned son of two powerful wizards and possessed unique magical powers of his own. He was summoned from his life as an unwanted child to become a student at Hogwarts, an English boarding school for wizards. There, he met several friends, Hermoine and Ron, some of them who became his closest allies and helped him discover the truth about his parents' mysterious deaths.
Harry taught me to never give up. As he said, “Time will not slow down when something unpleasant lies ahead.” He endured so much throughout the series, from destroying the Horcrux within himself to rising from the dead to kill Voldermort. He showed us that you can push through even the hardest times, bounce back, and succeed.
Although Harry had support from his friends along his way, in the end, he stood alone and destroyed Voldemort, who was the most powerful and dark lord in the universe teaching me to believe in myself that I am STRONG and I can do it.
Jk rowling has an amazing influence on millions of people me being one of them. She inspired me to get out of my comfort zone…Learn photography and graphic designing. Two of the things I love most and enjoy doing.
As she said, “I am an extraordinarily lucky person, doing what I love best in the world. I'm sure that I will always be a writer.” She just wanted to write, so that's what she did. Being a single mother, impoverished, and depressed. She still managed to push through and chase her dreams so if she can do it so can I.
