Excited for it all!

Doreen Ngemera, Grade 11
UWCEA Arusha Campus

Two years, three years, five years ago never could I ever fathom to get a chance to attend at one of the greatest schools I can say. One thing I could never fathom is how I could get the chance to be a part of a great diverse community of mostly likeminded peers like me.
UWC to the minority is just a two-year experience that meekly passes by. UWC to the majority on the other hand is much greater than just a mediocre two-year experience. The two years that tend to trail by faster than one could imagine two years to. Faster than the blink of an eye. Faster than the countdown to three. How one can watch the two years fly by! That excites me. The adventure, the thrill that comes with the whole experience.
What one gains from it I believe it to be most important. Whether it be roommates with whom you have late night conversations with or the friends you meet in your classes. Whether it be the multiple leadership opportunities available or becoming an agent of change. I’m excited for it all.
 I’m excited for it all.
For now, anticipation that tends to grow as the days grow nearer and nearer is all I have. The day when I would get to set foot and encounter what may possibly be a life changing experience for me. Getting assigned roommates from overseas whether it be from Asia, Europe, the middle east, from all around the world! How awing that sounds! I’m excited for it all.
One thing I can say is the ride will definitely be an adventure. Doing the IB is something no one probably looks forward to. However rigorous it sounds, however stressing it sounds I look forward to it. Ranging from CAS activities and the community I would serve to the subjects I would take. I can say in one short sentence all these challenging aspects would help me grow as a person.
To make the most out of it is one thing. Living the moments is another. It’s exciting that I would be exposed to different cultures, deepen my knowledge as well as create meaningful bonds as time will go by. I look forward to the new.
For now, all that walks with me is anticipation. Anticipation for novelty. Anticipation to get out my shell, try out new food, learn new languages and who knows how much transformation two years can do.
Two years; I definitely won’t watch them meekly pass by. Live, love, laugh that’s what they tend to say. To be a part of the UWC family, those three words is what I expect to do. Challenges, moments of sadness may arise but I can say they would be my stepping stones towards success.
Live, love, laugh.
Live, love, laugh; without forgetting learn.
