2020 was a year full-filled of a bunch of historical events that changed the world completely. Every moment was shocking, and a lot of them moved me, but today I'm going to write about an event that moved me in this unpredictable year.
It was July 30th,2020; it was another summer day with no apparent reason to be excited. But my dad and I were preparing the living room for the big launch, waiting for the big moment. Perseverance, the effort you put into something despite setbacks, failures, and difficulties. Perseverance, more than a quality, is the name of one of the biggest achievements of 2020.
The Mars rover, also known as perseverance, was launched to mars on July 30th with the hope of the rover to collect rock and regolith with the hope it will bring the samples to earth for further examination. It is expected that these rocks may indicate ancient life lived on Mars. The rover is expected to arrive at mars on February 18th,2021. I watched the launch with my dad; we both share the same passion for astronomy. The rover will collect important information for the field of astronomy if everything goes according to the plan.
I can't wait to see what humanity will learn from this project. After a lot that changed globally, this showed me that humanity is still evolving and exploring while working on this project under highly strict protocols since the outburst of the virus. The situation moved me because we, as human beings, continue interested in the development and gaining knowledge regardless of all the difficulties. This connected to the name of the mars rover, perseverance, which has certain beauty on it. This project kept on going under all the circumstances, a thing that perfectly matches with the name of the mars rover. I admire and thank all the crew that worked on this, thank you for working with, well, perseverance. The launch motivated me to work harder and to see the failures and setbacks as a challenge to overcome instead of as a stop sign.
