Today's world is a world with great technology, so many things have been simplified. Years ago, in the ages of Vasco Da Gama spent many years traveling from Europe to Africa. But today, you can spend just hours from Africa to Europe or Asia.
If you travel to the continent of Africa, to East Africa to the south of the country of Kenya and to the north of the country of Mozambique at longitude 35° East and a little below the Equator line, that is in the great lakes and along the Indian Ocean that is where this country is located,Tanzania.
A green country and home to Africa's highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. This country is blessed with many resources ranging from minerals, plants, soil, people and even lakes, seas and gas. Actually, the country of Tanzania is very attractive, from its hospitable people to its tourist attractions. This is my country, Tanzania.
Despite having these resources, the country of Tanzania has been in a very difficult period of life in recent days. Tanzania has suffered from inflation, the prices of goods have been very high unlike the two years in the rule of the late president John Pombe Magufuli.
Food prices have risen a lot, for example two years ago one kilo of corn was sold for TZS 550/= to 650/= but nowadays one kilo of corn is sold for TZS 1100/= This is a problem because many Tanzanians depend on corn for food. Not only corn but also rice, beans, cooking oil, soap and many others have increased in price.
It is claimed that the rise in the cost of living has been caused by the rise in the price of petrol. Two years ago the price of petrol was TZS 2200/= to TZS 2500/= per litre, but in recent days the price of petrol has risen to TZS 3400/= per litre. These oil prices have led to an increase in transportation costs and thus product prices.
The government of Tanzania has tried various ways to restore the state of relief in the country, for example Tanzania took a loan from the World Bank to lower the price of oil, but this did not bear fruit as the price of oil dropped by only TZS 100/= and after a few weeks the price of oil increased rapidly.
The increase in the price of oil is a negative result of the war between Russia and Ukraine as Tanzania was one of the countries that used to buy oil from Russia and currently Russia is facing sanctions.
A solution that can bear fruit is to allow the private sector to import oil into the country, the price of oil will fall only if the supply of oil is high in the country. The price of oil is high at the moment because there is no large amount of oil in the country. If the private sector is allowed to import oil into the country, the price of oil will drop and thus the prices of goods will be lower and life will return to a state of relief like two years ago.
The society will wake up again and continue the development activities stopped due to the increase in the prices of materials, the environment will again be in a stable state as the cutting of trees for energy will decrease or disappear completely.
Despite these challenges, I love my country very much. I really want to be part of the solution to the problem it is facing.
Tanzania is a beautiful country, KARIBUNI!
