“We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.” - Cynthia Ozick.
So, lights out and let’s have story time:
Once, I tried to do my homework without internet, acting all Einstein like, and trust me that ended in disaster. Like imagine, a question pops us in your mind,
“Google”, will be there for you. For instance, have you ever wondered how many hair strands does Dwayne Johnson have? Yeah, me neither. So, technology
is definitely something i’m grateful for as not only does it make things easier but it’s more enjoyable than searching for an answer in a book. Also, you don’t need to carry books around campus, just download it on your phone/laptop. Lastly, people argue that technology is expensive but imagine typing a single essay on your laptop for a 1000$ scholarship. “wink, wink”
“Hakuna Matata!” Oh, this means no worries. As a Tanzanian, my neighbors are lions, cheetah, zebras, elephants and wildlife all around. My love for wildlife
adds to the fact that i’m surrounded by national parks and game reserves such as Serengeti, Mikumi, Ruaha, Selous that aid in protecting such wildlife and
proving the statement above to be true for me and yeah, i’m grateful to the people who have devoted their life toward wildlife although it’s everyone’s
responsibility to protect these animals.
Cycles exist because they are excruciating to break.”- Oh that’s a line from one of the books i read. I think it goes without saying that all of us book lovers are
thankful for books, but how often do we actually stop to think about it? For me, i use books to escape from life when i need to, everyone goes through tough
times and escaping for a little while helps relieve stress. It has also influenced and shaped me more in more ways than I can know even those books which i
hated and I can’t even remember. So, that’s definitely something to be grateful for.
Imagine the world without ‘food delivery’ such as UberEats, Doordash,
Postmates- you couldn’t satisfy those late night or a rainy afternoon cravings. Personally, it is a winner for me as i’m a foodie myself but all that also leads me
to those people who suffer from famine and go to sleep with empty stomachs. I wish to bring a change to that but at the same time be grateful and make sure
not to waste any food as I know others can’t afford this luxury.
Starting photography on an old phone with broken lenses, been there done that- but now having a full on DSLR camera plus some practice helps me look at things differently as I get to capture angles never seen before. Plus, I get Dr.Strange vibes- didn’t get me?- urghh, you get to freeze time duhh. So basically having a way to express myself without words but through moments is something i’m very grateful for.
Okay, time to go to bed, but remember “Gratitude is the wine for the soul. Go on. Get drunk.”
Not literally but you get the message. Adios.
