Growing up as an only child, boredom struck me too often. I would jot down random thoughts and immerse myself in my imaginary world. Writing was the perfect activity to kill time. Later in life, I moved to live in a foreign country, because of which I learned a different language. At the start, it was a struggle for me to write. I felt frustrated because of the words that I couldn’t recognize, and sentences that were not comprehended. Nevertheless, I wrote whenever I got homesick, craved for understanding, and imagined the future. Writing was inspiring and comforting. I wrote down what I saw, heard, and felt. Writing helped me to understand, communicate and connect with myself.
I believe the solitude of life's journey is inevitable. Everyone is different for individuality, yet because of written words, we are also similar and connected. We could all be isolated islands and have no interactions with each other. However, words exist, and they form into sentences, paragraphs, and writings. They are the bridges on which people can walk to get to another island.
Words come with power, especially when they spread crucial information, tell stories, and
give hope to others. To me, being able to depict the beauty of nature, voice for the minorities in society, and share diverse cultural beliefs are the reasons for written words. Writing is vital in terms of embracing, respecting, and critically viewing the world.
