Often regarded as the great American novel and also considered a literary masterpiece, the one book I will always turn to for comfort is The Great Gatsby by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, more commonly known as F Scott Fitzgerald.
Published on April 10th 1925 The Great Gatsby takes place during the roaring twenties and focuses on the life of Jay Gatsby and his desire to pursue a legitimate relationship with Daisy, who is married to Tom Buchanan. The story is narrated by Nick Carraway and explores the themes of the American dream whilst also criticising the modern capitalist system we live in today.
